Freshman "State Meet" Week!

Congratulations to state qualifiers:  Jsalissa Bridges (Long Jump), Armonee Adams (100m) and Elisabeth LaPrad (1600m).

 

Practice this week is still "open" to anyone who wants to show up, but only freshman and state qualifiers are required to attend.

 

With less athletes, we should be getting done with practice earlier each day, so plan to be done approximately 4:30 each day, instead of the typical 5:00.

 

Uniforms for everyone will get collected next week: more information to come about this, but please, please, please make sure your uniform and warm-up jacket are CLEAN before you return them.

REGIONAL MEET WEEK!!!

2 meets this week: Wednesday is JV meet at Ann Arbor Huron, and Friday is the Regional Meet at Saline.

Wednesday 5/18

   JV Girl's Only Invitational at Ann Arbor Huron HS.  Athletes may choose which events they want to compete in, they just need to know their best time for seeding purposes (listed on athletic.net or here).  If you are trying something new, ask a coach for an educated guess about your time. 

  Athletes competing will be excused at 1:30, with the bus leaving at 1:45.

  Field events begin at 4:00   (Long Jump has Open Pit from 4:00 - 6:00

  Running Events begin at 4:45 with 4x800 then follow the regular order of events.

The following athletes are scheduled to compete and will be excused ALL DAY (bus is leaving from the track at 8:00 AM)  It will be a long day, so pack plenty of healthy food and drinks for the day, and sunscreen, and clothing for all possible weather types in Michigan.

Busy week this week...Dual Meet, Freshman/Sophomore Meet, Varsity Meet

We will meet outside for practice every day this week.  If that changes, I will let everyone know via Remind.

Week 5

April 10, 2016

Been 1 week of practice on our own track, and in spite of the weather, we got some good work done to prepare us for the rest of the season.  Looks like we should have more April-like weather coming up soon.  As always, be prepared for both indoor and outdoor practice everyday: it's Michigan, so you should bring clothes for anywhere from 20 - 90 degrees.

This Tuesday is our first dual meet, at home vs. Skyline.

Week 4

April 03, 2016

Welcome back from spring break.

Those who showed up to practice last week worked hard.  If you were not with us last week, hopefully you did something to maintain fitness, because we need to begin focusing much more on the "field" part of Track & Field.  If you are interested in any field events, let us know, so we can put you into the appropriate groups.  

The tentative (as always) plan for the week is:

 

MONDAY

  • meet in gym @ 2:30 for a brief meeting, warmup, core, therabands
  • head outside to our track!!! for a workout and field events practice
  • We will also need to get equipment set up outside (pits, hurdles, etc), and everyone will need to help with that.

 

TUESDAY

  • weight room @ 2:30 - distance runners will start outside with the boys
  • upstairs for warmup, core, therabands  
  • uniforms handed out (varsity level athletes will also be assigned a jacket)
  • workout, event specific activities outside
  • possibly more equipment setup outside

 

WEDNESDAY

  • team pictures in the gym after school - bring uniform and jacket
  • warmup, core, therabands in the gym after pictures (possibly upstairs depending on time)
  • outside for the rest of practice

 

THURSDAY

Cookie delivery day!  - cookies are frozen and need to be delivered ASAP.  They should be at the barn by 5:00, so plan accordingly to have a way to deliver them to those who bought cookies right away.
