Arborwood South (Cantrick) Elementary contains 48 Dell 745 desktop computers. These computers are running "Windows XP Professional" and "Microsoft Office 2010". In addition to the 48 desktops, there are also three ACER laptop carts. Each cart contains 32 wireless laptops; one of which is in the media center. Every classroom includes a presentation cart. The presentation cart includes a Dell laptop, an E.L.M.O visual presenter, a projector, and a set of external speakers. The laptop on the presentation cart connects to the network wirelessly. This can be taken anywhere in the building to project what is on the visual presenter or the laptop. We are currently installing a SMARTBoard, an overhead projector, an AVerMedia document camera and a SMART Slate in sixteen of the classrooms. Classroom computers contain the following programs: "KidPix", "Type to Learn 3", "Google Earth", "Audacity", "Geometer Sketchpad", "Kidspiration 2", "PhotoStory", "Windows Movie Maker", "Shapes", "Notebook 10", "Student Center", "EasyBook Deluxe", "FASTTMath", and others.
The Media Center contains an ACER laptop cart. Students can use the laptops to search for books using a program called "Destiny". The Media Center also has a teacher computer. This desktop is used to check out books from the library and acts as a teacher workstation. It is connected to an AVerMedia document camera and ceiling mounted projector; which allows the teacher to project papers, three dimensional objects, books, etc.
The main office is equipped with four Dell 745 desktop computers and a laser printer for administrative staff. These office computers run "Windows XP" and "Microsoft Office 2010". "PowerSchool" is used to manage student information. All office personnel rely on up-to-date computers and a good connection to access the information they need for students.
Currently, the Technology department is working to install projectors, sound systems, document cameras, and SMART Slates in sixteen of the classrooms at Arborwood. In addition to the projector, each of these rooms will also be equipped with a Smart Board allowing the teacher and students to interact with what is on the screen with a push of a finger.
Arborwood South is connected by fiber to the Administration Building. Wireless access to the network is available throughout the entire building.
