Monroe High School has the largest student population in the district, supporting students ranging from freshman to seniors. There are over 700 computers in this building, including a Gateway 4300 (teacher workstation) in every classroom. These computers are running "Windows XP Professional", "Microsoft Office 2010", and "Adobe CS3". The latter two applications provide users with the ability to create word documents, spreadsheets, compose emails, and develop web pages.
There are various lab environments at MHS, which are used a great deal. This includes four Business division labs. Each lab is composed of 31 Gateway E4300s and a ceiling mounted projector. The software on these computers is the same as those in the classroom with the exception of specialized software such as "Crosstec" (a classroom management tool) and "Virtual School" (a business simulation application). These applications as well as many others are used daily in the four labs to give students a quality education in a technology rich environment.
The Media Center consists of two separate labs. The upper media center consists of 60 nComputing workstations configured identically to those in the classrooms. This lab is commonly used for research and other miscellaneous projects. The lower Media Center consists of 24 nComputing workstations; which in addition to the above configuration, also contains a digital Card Catalog system known as "Follett". "Follett" can be accessed from every classroom as well.
The drafting lab consists of 25 Gateway E4300s workstations; one of which is attached to a ceiling mounted projector. Setup up with the same software as the classrooms, along with "Bentleys Power Draft" and "AutoCAD", this lab is used on a daily basis to instruct students in both architectural and technical drafting.
The art lab consists of 32 Gateway E4300s, which in addition to the classroom configuration, also contains "Adobe CS3". This application is the main program used in this room for creating digital artwork, and manipulation of images.
The robotics lab consists of sixteen Dell D630 laptops and has the basic classroom configuration; with the addition of multiple robotics related applications. These applications interface through the laptop to robotic equipment which can be programmed by students.
Other labs include Lotus Leaf, Career Center, "e2020", and Yearbook. The Lotus Leaf Lab consists of ten Gateway E4300s and is used for the creation of the school newspaper. The Career Center is composed of 34 nComputing workstations and is used by students going through the career program. The "e2020" lab consists of 31 nComputing workstations which is used for the Student Credit Recovery Program. Lastly, the Yearbook lab contains 10 Gateway E4300s.
Monroe High School has an individual student account log on system. This provides security and accountability for all students. The system also makes measuring student progress easier for staff members.
Five mobile laptop carts consisting of 32 netbooks are also located at Monroe High School. These carts are assigned out to teachers on a day by day basis to integrate technology into the classroom. These netbooks are used for accessing internet resources and writting papers or creating presentations.
Monroe High School is connected by fiber to the Administration Building. Wireless access to the network is available throughout the entire building, and the football field.
